Hello and welcome to my blog of wonders. Here you can
find book reviews of books of all origins and genres. I will always be honest
when it comes to reviewing any book. I try and keep my blog up to date and
filled with truthful and fun reviews. So, let's get started, shall we?
This was sent for me by the author herself, so thank you
very much for sending this my way. Regardless if its sent for review, I have always
been truthful on whether I liked it, loved it, disliked it, or hated it. The
main reason I stay truthful is for myself and what blog would I be if I lied
about every book I read and reviewed? I don’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings
but this is my opinion and I am entitled to my own opinions. For the books, I
have not enjoyed I would still recommend reading only because it may be a
totally different experience for you. So, with that let’s get into the review.
Pink Slips is about Betsy
Ryan who is pregnant with her third child, and receiving threatening notes from
an anonymous person. During what should be a joyful time in her life, she’s
forced to face a decade old memory, and relive one of the most devastating
nights of her life
To uncover the
mystery behind the threats, she enlists the help of an unlikely, but oddly
reliable source, her dog Barney. As the menacing notes continue to arrive, her
husband is still out of town for work, and she struggles to keep her composure
while shielding her two young sons from danger. She trusts no one except her
parents, best friend Misty, and her extraordinary dog—who has proven to
literally understand everything she says. Is this person out to harm her? And
how do they have so much personal information about Betsy? She can’t help but
think it’s the same person who attacked her at the train station almost a
decade ago, and changed the course of her life forever. To save herself and her
unborn child—Betsy must face her fears and find her strength, to reveal who is
after her and most importantly…why?
I don’t even know how to start honestly, only because I
had to DNF this book. I barely made a dent in it and I couldn’t make myself
read anymore. I just didn’t enjoy the way it was written. As a writer and avid reader,
I have pet peeves you can say and when I come across those pet peeves I tend to
not want to finish reading.
When a writer over explains something, and write too much
the story line or topic becomes drawn out. This happened a lot within the first
two chapters. I tried to push past it but I couldn’t. This book is supposed to
be suspenseful but nothing is being left for the reader to hold on to because
everything is over explained. I felt like this book could have potential if there
have been more revisions and edits done.
I really wanted to read this book but because of personal
preferences I couldn’t. I still want to thank Beth Aldrich for taking the time
and sending me her book. I’m going to pass your book along in hoping to find it
a forever home.
